WORKING AS COOK AT ESVAGT

Your main responsibilities as cook on the vessels is to compose and prepare all food on board and to arrange provisions for a crew of 8-18 people. In addition, you must participate in exercises onboard in first aid, firefighting, and rescue. To be able to participate in the exercises, you will in connection with your start in ESVAGT receive courses in FRB sailing, first aid and safety awareness.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the weekly menu plan includes healthy, varied and nutritionally correct food that is adapted to the season and the various religious and cultural backgrounds that may be onboard. We also have an expectation that you can bake the bread that is needed for the meals. Hygiene as well as handling and storage of raw materials must be in full compliance with applicable rules.

The food on board is important, which requires that you as a person must be creative in your cooking and is able to make varied food for the crew. You also need to be up to date on the newest knowledge about diet and food hygiene. As you are working independently, you must be responsible and IT-minded as well since there is some administrative work that you should be able to handle.

THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED:

  • Certificate of Competency as Ship’s Cook or Certificate Supplement Gastronomy+Basic Safety
  • Valid health certificate for seafarers and passport
  • Clean drug-test (Zero tolerance for narcotics and alcohol on board)
  • You must be able to show a criminal record that is not older than 3 months

FURTHERMORE, WE EXPECT THAT YOU:

  • Can communicate clearly and distinctly with the rest of the crew.
  • Can make a healthy and varied diet.
  • Can sail four weeks in a row (2 men share a position)

THE FOLLOWING CAN ALSO BE RELEVANT:

  • Training in firefighting

WE OFFER:
